For Petite Trois at Mollie Aspen, Jimmy Thompson created a visual identity that carries the restaurant’s distinctly French personality into its new mountain setting. The branding unites Parisian wit, Los Angeles provenance and Aspen’s alpine character through expressive hand lettering and playful original illustration.
At its center is a wandering escargot—a spirited reinterpretation of a classic French symbol—set against the silhouette of the surrounding mountains. Jimmy extended this imagery into an illustrated journey from Los Angeles to Aspen, incorporating desert palms, pine forests, winding roads and snow-covered peaks to tell the story of Petite Trois’s arrival in Colorado.
The identity was developed as a flexible system spanning signage, merchandise and custom vehicle graphics. Rendered in deep forest green, warm neutrals and restrained flashes of color, the work feels equally at home within Mollie’s refined modern setting and against Aspen’s rugged landscape.
The result preserves the charm and irreverence of Petite Trois while giving its Aspen location a character entirely its own: elegant, adventurous and unmistakably playful.
